Here's something no one asked for, but I had to do it before someone else beat me to it. This is a VocalWriter rendition of the cuss word song by Rusty Cage. Profanity lovers, enjoy or something.
Once popular for attacking AI, ASCII smuggling is embraced by spammers
A once-overlooked block of unicode that's invisible to humans is gaining ever wider use.

@alcinnz I have no issue with those using anticapitalist licenses when they *know* they don't make sense and use them more to show their intent (which IMO is better served by a manifesto or a code of conduct, but well).
And even FLOSS licenses are only good if you can enforce them, as you said. We let capitalists get away with pillaging the commons we built while we still can't freely access what they owned without being labelled a pirate, but libs still won't become anticapitalists.
Whoa... to anyone who's been reporting fedra interacting with the wrong posts, I just got this to happen for the first time ever, so uh, yeah, I see that. WTF? You are not alone.
@jaredwhite don't have any CONTENT yet, but that's next week's job :)
@Floppy eh, just fill it up with lorem ipsum and you're good 😋
The Times fires another shot across Mamdani's bow and his social captain fires back against (The Times, et al's) monopolization, paywalls, concentration, "adding that working only through 'channels with diminishing reach' might mean failing to reach New Yorkers about important city services." Yes.

@jeffjarvis As some one who actually worked at a news paper, Ms. Rowland's words are 100% correct...
For those that know, the trend is disheartening.
If you're feeling hopeless about human nature and what happens when times get bad, you might want to read these words from a woman who survived the siege of Sarajevo:
"I shared food when I had it, even though I often knew I wouldn't have a crumb the next day. Which was no big achievement, because nearly everyone did the same."

Je voterai pour Firefox (sur desktop) (sinon c'est fini, ça sera l'hégémonie du moteur de Google). Même si sur mobile je trouve Firefox un peu lent, et je lui préfère Vivaldi.
@sebsauvage
Sur desktop, il existe LibreWolf qui enlève l'IA de Firefox. Sur le reste, c'est une version hardened de Firefox.

@lumi @stilic what do you think "control" is?? this take would have been charmingly naive a whole calendar year ago but i don't know if you noticed linus torvalds is just a smarter and more patient form of bill gates, and the entire linux kernel and most of the "open source" """movement""" that we thought existed because corporations could be incentivized to self-regulate their own behavior if we simply engaged the fawn response hard enough was always getting ready for the eventual heel turn without us. we are now directly working against the literal NSA in every single line of code we write in protest.
talking about "root" (like "root" was EVER a fucking good idea, just because some fuckboys at bell labs thought it worked great for their fuckboy OS that was too expensive for anyone else to criticize it) in 2026 is at some point going to become so naive as to be plausibly an attempt to undermine any nascent movement to construct an OS that literally cannot be backdoored
@lumi @stilic everything i do as "root" has a 1 in 200 chance of irreparably fucking up my entire system and i'm completely sick of this fucking shit where everyone accepts that that's the most "power" or "control" you can ever have over a system: when the half-assed permissions system in the VFS layer doesn't return EPERM. are you listening to yourself? WE SHOULD BE BUILDING THE FUCKING FILESYSTEMS FROM SCRATCH WITH OUR BARE HANDS!!!!!
nobody has ever tried to design an OS around an algebraic (i.e. simple and extensible) semantics for how i/o modifies process-local and shared state, and it's why every single fucking build system is incredibly slow and does not help you one bit with avoiding someone introducing backdoors. both git and every other approach to checksumming a directory tree do the absolute most, in an intentional mathematical sense, to ensure the user of the system has absolutely no meaningful understanding of how the system's in-memory state is generated from its persistent state on disk, and vice versa.
haven't you noticed that literally every single self-appointed filesystem fuckboy is actively one of the worst people on the fucking planet??? that's because they crave fucking power and they know the filesystem is an incredibly simple way to legitimize constructions that are just immensely obviously intended to harm people!
